It's funny, when we got Panda, she was 9 months old and a very gentle and timid sort. You could give her a stern look and she'd tuck her tail and hide in a corner. Teaching her what is ours and what is hers was a breeze. She quickly learned, "leave it," and anything that was ever dubbed as such was unharmed.
Thea, she is much younger, much more confident and far less concerned with the repercussions of her mischief. She's a good girl, don't get me wrong, but she lives in the moment and runs a little fast and loose with the law of the house. One must be ever diligent to catch her before she slips up, which is why I have only myself to blame for this.
I closed the girls out of the office, during an important conference call, and when I came out, Thea had her handiwork on display. It's that delicious baby camel down that Thea so beautifully modeled, a little while back.
She tried to look sorry
But then something interesting passed by the kitchen window
As you can imagine, it was no small feat to untangle the mess, but the yarn was salvageable.
Only two breaks, leaving me with two small and one larger ball of yarn. So, while my three little balls might not be quite as good as my one larger skein, it could definitely be worse.
Now, tell me again about how lucky I am to have such well behaved little girls. I think I need a reminder. Oh wait, here's one.
what a mischievious little girl. they 'so sorry' look is done well, she must practice while you sleep.
It's so funny how dog personalities can vary, just like kids'. We're very lucky that Dakota doesn't touch anything. I love that first picture. Thea's all "yeah, I did it, what?" and Panda's like, "Hey, don't look at me. I tried." ;)
willow who we call "piggy" now keeps latley sneaking toby's food! She's like 2 years old now! Little piggy ugh... toby likes to take longer to eat his food some I can be in the bed watching tv and willow finished eating and comes sits with me and toby might come and go from his food. before we got her his food was always out so it's been harder to make sure he eats.
So i was laying in bed about half an hour later and heard the tell tale sound of a golden retriever munching away, face full in the bowl. Toby hardly makes a sound when he eats, he nibbles.
So i caught her the little piggy, I have to check her "ribs" once a week and make sure she's not getting too fat!! Otherwise she's near pefectly behaved and she only started doing this recently!
Do you ever watch the dog whisperer? Love that show!

i'm so glad my cats and kids leave my yarn alone. most of my tangles are of my own doing, sigh.
Awww, how can you stay angry at those faces very long? At least you were able to salvage the yarn.
I have a cat named Talula, the names suits her, she's a brat. I came home once with some gorgeous yarn I had just bought to the tune of about $14 a ball, put the bag on the floor for 2 seconds to go outside and turn the sprinklers on, come back and the brat had one of them totally unraveled and all over the den floor. I just about cried. I still haven't untangeled that yarn, all these years later, because she knotted it up good. But I couldn't stay angry at her for long. Cats are good at giving that "face" too.
What sweet expressions! Luckily my two cats leave my yarn alone...but the spinning wheel seems to facinate every little person that comes within 2 feet of it. :)
Oh, I've seen worse dog-made yarn messes.
/remembers the 500 yard skein of Karabella lace mohair that Jasper got into/
That was salvageable too. :)
I love the pictures of your girls. Do you have your camera around your neck all the time, to get those great photos? ;o)
LUCKY dog. And, this just supports my theory--cuteness is a survival tactic.
Glad it was salvagable. One of my cats one day got into my velcro closed knitting bag and pulled out the bottom band of a Celtic cabled sweater, unraveled about 75% of it, and chewed three breaks in the yarn. And it was Mission Falls, before they started manufacturing again. Amazingly, Fret still gets pounce-y treats.
Thank goodness you could save the yarn! Thea's expression in that first photo is priceless.
(And if you still need the reminder that they're good girls, the wonderful black lab we got in high school went through a rough transition period and ate most of a couch. We never did find most of the pieces.)
She probably figured it was hers since she modeled it!
Having no kids or pets, I don't know what it's like to have someone not mind me. Still, they're so cute that it must be hard to stay mad for long. Good for you for getting it untangled. I think I would've chucked it in frustration - like I did the first time I worked with a skein rather than a ball of yarn.
Since she previously modeled it, she might have been thinking "hey, I thought that was mine - it's got my stink on it!". Not that your dogs are stinky, but well, you know - the normal doggy stink. The one you secretly miss when you're away, and the one you take comfort in when you snuggle them. Oh wait - is it just me?!
Panda look so sorry, but the devil dog looks so Proud--she re-a-ranged your yarn and thinks she did a really good job...You gotta LOVE them.
Your little girl must have been a knitter in her past life!
I wanted to personally tell you thanks for your comment regarding my pattern in Magknits. When I saw "Marnie" I thought to myself "could it be my knitting idol Marnie MacLean leaving me nice comments?!" Then I just might have let out a little squeal of joy when I realized it was true....
I learn so much from your posts and start to comment, but then think I sound too much like a crazy-stalker and delete them. Just so you know, I adore you, your blog and your designs!
CONGRATULATIONS on having both Panda and Thea on luvmutt, which is my new favorite site! I love your blog, cute doggies and so informative. I was wondering, how did you pick Thea? Were you looking for a dog of similar coloring or breed? We're starting to think of another puppy and I was curious what, besides her adorable face, made you choose her?
Oh Marnie, tee hee hee
Hopefully you are enjoying the full force of having two dogs. Now what I have found is that if you have two dogs, and one or more of those dogs needs training, totally different rules apply.
I have a very timid new bitch with a very confident male, but my goodness the timid female is such a bossy boots when the male is around, and almost impossible to train!
We had a collie before, we decided on greyhounds, so got 2 together and have double the trouble training both at once.
A tangled mess has happened here twice, within seconds whilst I was on the loo, so now work materials are locked away upstairs and we have a baby gate stopping them....for the moment that is!
I learned that EXACT same lesson yesterday after modelling some of my handspun on my cat...
HA!
Luckily for me I only lost a mini skein to the Tangle Gods.
