Is it a shawl? A capelet? Maybe a scarf? Some sort of frankensteinian love child of the three? It doesn't really matter how you wear it or what you call it, it'll add a bit of beauty and warmth to anything you pair it with.
This is a true lace pattern, with pattern stitches worked on right and wrong side rows. It's worth the little bit of extra attention it takes, to produces such a dramatic lace pattern.
One size with recommendations for making modifications
Approximately 42" / 107 cm wingspan excluding border points
450 yards of fingering weight yarn
Purple Version: Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock Lightweight (100% Superwash Merino) 405 yd / 370 m per 5 1/2 oz / 155 g in color Tanzanite
Blue Version: Shalimar Yarns Breathless (75% SW Merino, 15% Cashmere, 10% Silk) - 420 yds / 384 m per 4 ox / 113 g in color Neptune
Note: I was able to finish each sample with a single skein of yarn but it was very close. Even subtle differences in gauge can change yardage, so it is advisable to buy a second skein, if you can.

- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
- Blocking supplies
20 sts x 26.5 rows over 4" / 10cm in Large Motif Lace Chart
Note: gauge is approximated here and is not instrumental to the success of this shawl but may impact the finished size and yardage required for your piece.
