Uchiwa
I love art deco motifs. Their bold, graceful lines are neither subtle nor fussy. This fan motif pays homage to the era and is worked up in my favorite color; a deep inky purple and is paired with a soft gray. Mix and match any two highly contrasting yarns or work a solid with a variegated, if you prefer.
I chose a yarn with a little cashmere and a little nylon, to ensure durability and softness, but almost any sock yarn with a bit of memory, should work fine

Gauge
34 sts x 36 rows = 4" / 10 cm in colorwork motif on larger needles. Wash and lay flat to dry before checking gauge
Note: Many people find their gauge changes depending on whether they work in the round or flat. It is always best to knit your swatch in the same manner and on the same needles as you'll knit the finished piece.
