San Francisco - Saturday March 26, 2005
| I awoke early on Saturday for Eggs Benedict with my mom, and a bit more window shopping. We walked up hills until our legs were jelly, then we walked up some more. It was worth it, though and burned off the delightful sins of the trip. Once Leo arose from his beauty sleep, I headed back for some doggy time around the city. I am all the more in love with San Francisco now that I fully understand how dog friendly it is. While she's none too excited by crowds and traffic, she fared surprisingly well. | |
Unlike LA, Hummers are a rare site in SF. This, of course, makes flipping them off all the more enjoyable. Leo and I both had a go at it. |

After our long doggy walk through the doggy city, we met my mom for dinner at the Cityscape restaurant at the top of the Hilton at which she was staying. We got there while it was still light and enjoyed watching the sun set and the city light up. The meal was wonderful, the wine was perfect and desert, was nearly criminal it was so good. Leo had the trio of Creme Brule and my mom and I each got a chocolate souffle which had melted chocolate in the middle. Yum! The pictures don't do them justice, partially because they were mostly consumed at the point when I thought to photograph them. |

| After dinner, Leo and I went to the Top of the Mark. Like Cityscape, the view is amazing. You really must see it to believe it. We had appetizers and drinks and danced to old Standards being sung by a very talented couple of vocalists and a live band. While we were there, we tried some caviar. I know nothing about caviar and I have never had it by itself before. This was the cover to the tin
To my untrained palette, it was salty and a little pungent, but placed atop the mini pancakes they were served with and sprinkled with onions, chicken eggs and chives, they were delightful. I'm not sure it's something I'd necessarily crave and run out and spend a fortune on, but it was great fun trying it. To be honest, dinner was bittersweet since it reminding us just how much we'd miss SF. | |
