Day trip to Mexico and San Diego

9/11/05
Leo, Panda and Marnie pack up first thing Sunday morning and head to the US/Mexico border with the plan to take a peak, turn around and find a place in San Diego for Miss Panda to play.

Marnie comes prepared with knitting in hand

For audio, we have Harry Potter V on the old MP3 player. We'll get to VI on the next trip.

Traffic is surprisingly light and we make it to the border in no time

It's not so terribly hard to pass the border into Mexico. It appears you need a means and a willingness

We drove around, briefly, exhausted our interest and headed for the border back home.

As shocking as this may sound, it's harder to get into the US than it is to get into Mexico

Leo is none too thrilled with the wait

And wait...

It's about this time that we realize we have a dog in our car with no paperwork to prove she's a legal US citizen

I don't have a picture of the conversation, but Border Inspector man was not so pleased with the pile of wood and dog in the car.

Luckily, he let us through. Do you see that up ahead?

It's some poor guys pushing their van to the US. Hope they aren't headed far.

Panda was feeling like she needed some fresh air, so we stopped at a beach just over the border

No swimming, though, the signs warn against it

No, really, read the sign, you don't want to swim in this.
