The first thing the staff does at Pasha, upon seating you is to ask if anyone has a special event going on. The honoree is then given a fez to wear. Doesn't Leo look pleased? |
This was the ceiling. |
I think Leo's sweet for being a sport about it. He is plotting my slow and painful death. |
My parents are having a blast |

Here we are from one side of the table |
Here we are from the other |
To show our solidarity, I wore the fez. |
Then I pulled out my sexy face |
Do I look like an organ grinding monkey? |
| |
Ben hams it up |
Then hams it up some more |
Of the lot of us, my mom is the worst at trying to look dorky |
This is Leo trying really hard to look pleased about the hat |
Um, the ceiling again. |
| |
Aww, see, he doesn't mind THAT much |
Cool artsy shot of the table. |
The belly dancer |
More belly dancer |
Cool artsy shot of the belly dancer through the glasses. |
| |
And again |
She dances for quite a while |
We are all asked to spin our napkins in the air. |
After a few dances she starts her rounds |
She wiggles near your face and then you put dollars in her belt. |
| |
Leo did so tentatively |
Ben seems to have some previous experience putting dollars in women's clothing. |
I'm sure he's respecting her for her mind, here. |
| |

This is the point where my demise is certain. After the dancing, the MC invites all fez wearers up to the front of the restaurant. |
The staff ensures that no one passes off or hides their fez. The belly dancer then "teaches" them to dance. |
| |
This would be enough but... |
Then each person is asked to dance SOLO for several seconds. |
| |

But you get a nice certificate out of the experience. Doesn't Leo look happy? |
Then we bought what were called "celebration shots". I thought they were nasty. |
Oh, what, everyone has to come up AGAIN? This time, no solo dancing, just a round of happy birthday. |
After it was all over, we found another cigar bar where Leo and I enjoyed a couple drinks before heading home. |
Saturday June 4, 2005Saturday saw us spending a lot more time sleeping, during the day, and a lot less time doing stuff. I saw my parents for breakfast again after which, my parents took me to a tea shop in Chinatown where I got over caffeinated. I headed back to the hotel to spend some time with Leo and Panda and then we got spiffed up for another birthday dinner, this time, provided by my parents. If you had been reading through the captions from the night before, you'll know that Leo does not like to have folks make a spectacle of his birthday. He even made me promise to ask my parents not to tell anyone it was his birthday. In my defense, I had no idea what was going to happen that evening. We went to Pasha. If you haven't already, you should read through the night's events to see how that went. |

The sign is quite funny. |
