The drive to San Francisco

We left late on Wednesday night and drove up the 5 stopping only for the obligatory pit stops, and breakfast at Denny's. Within fifty miles of SF we got to watch the sun rise and the traffic thicken.

I'm not sure what to make of the black fog flowing through these windmills. It's a bit of an off-putting sight, to be sure.

Arriving several hours too early to check into our hotel and having, now, been awake for more than 24 hours, we were unsure how to pass the hours. Back onto the road we went to explore Sausalito and Muir Beach. We found a vista point and marveled at the beauty. It really didn't fill the three hours we needed to kill but it was a nice distraction.

After that our steam had run out and we were ready to find a place to crash. We returned to the parking lot near our hotel and slept, fitfully in our seats for another hour before finally checking in.

A shower and long nap returned us to life and our vacation really began.

Thursday Night ~ Vesuvio

After a few false starts to the evening, including the crushing reality that the 850 Cigar Bar had closed, we landed back at Vesuvio, a coffee house style bar that we had been to in the past.

FU H2

For various reasons, I won't elaborate on here, I'm entirely opposed to Hummers for non military purposes. [And, no, having been in the military before does not grant you the right to drive these monstrosities to commute to your civilian job.] My new hobby is flipping off hummers and this parked H2 LIMO afforded me a perfect opportunity to document this hobby of mine.

If you opt to view the images more closely, you'll note that the driver was standing nearby, completely unsurprised by my active middle finger. It looked like it was probably for hire by a group of teens attending their prom as we saw many a limo and even more taffeta while visiting the fine city of San Francisco.
